"Izzy's Gift": A Common Good Initiative

“ You don’t have to be a grown up to change the world.” – Izzy DeFlice

Inspired by Izzy who once resided at the Catherine McAuley Center Shelter, we encourage young people (typically ages 8–25) in giving their time, talents, and resources to help improve their communities and address social issues. We encourage youth to become active decision-makers and leaders in charitable giving, social change, and community development.

We are currently looking for local youth to take part in the following initiatives:

  • Make Period Project Bracelets
  • Make Event Kits for Children
  • Birthday Closet and Cake Kit Fundraiser
  • Arts and Crafts Drive/Collection
  • Lead a workshop regarding a skill you have (art, journaling, no-sew blanket making, etc.)
  • Volunteer at a Center or Community Event
  • Host a Bake Sale or Lemonade Stand
  • Host a Book Drive

If you would like to learn more about how kids, teens, and young adults can share their time and talents with the Friends of the Poor and Catherine McAuley Center, please contact:

Mary-Pat Ward, Development Director at (570) 342-1342.
