The Family to Family Food Basket Program is a nearly 40-year strong local initiative now operated by the Robeson Family. Each year, a distribution is held for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter – each feeding over 15,000 members of 4,000 families with bags stuffed with the staples to create life-sustaining holiday dinners. These staples comprise the traditional meal for our neighbors who are unable to afford these items themselves but nonetheless desire, and deserve, to make the same sweet memories we each do every year at the family dinner table.

The program began in 1986 when the Burne family discovered a heartbreaking truth within our community: there were some who had neither a welcoming table nor the funds to enjoy a nourishing Thanksgiving dinner. The Burne’s asked fifty of their friends to contribute $25 and to ask one additional friend to contribute the same. That year they were able to feed 640 families.

The need has grown exponentially, as have the costs to purchase the baskets, but the community spirit at the heart of the program remains unchanged. Each $40 donation from one family provides a holiday meal, and priceless memories that go with it, to another local family in need.
